By the way, the extensive backstory for this "dungeon" as explicated in this strip and the Sunday's strip never becomes important. At all. It's just there to set up the (admittedly rather weak) gags in those two strips. There's a lot in these early strips that's subtle setup for things that are going to come into play much later. The details about the dungeon's past are not among them.

Which isn't to say it's completely impossible that, even though I hadn't originally intended them to be important, those details may not end up coming into play eventually anyway. Wouldn't be the first time that happened.
