Some of the characters in Soup are easier to draw than others.
Erlak is one of the easiest characters to draw. Which is fortunate, because, as the main character, he gets drawn a lot. The champion, on the other hand, is rather harder—not because of his face, but because his costume is fairly complex. Actually, I guess he's not so much harder to draw, necessarily, as more time-consuming. Though sometimes it is a bit sticky to position the studs on his gorget. (I think that's what you'd call that leather thingie he wears around his neck, but I'm not sure it technically qualifies. Anyway...) Difficulty of drawing doesn't necessarily correlate with complexity; Nizini's design isn't all that complex, but I have a hard time getting it right. (In fact, I'm still thinking she may need a slight redesign.) Drv'dxx is one of the most complicated characters, and one of the most time-consuming to draw, but honestly, it's not that difficult, and for some reason (perhaps because it's not that difficult) he's also one of the most fun characters to draw.
Why do I bring this up? Because Trevalien happens to be something of an annoying character to draw. Not because of the chain mail; that's easy. Not the mustache, certainly, or any other feature of the face. No. It's that hat. (Well, helmet, technically, I suppose.) That stupid hat (helmet) with the circle of oval studs around it. That thing is surprisingly difficult to get right. It doesn't look like it should be, but it is. At least, for me.
