Soup the Comic Strip by Alun Clewe
Comic strip for August 21 2023.
PANEL 1: Two adventurers, a man and a woman, walk down a stone corridor. (Actually, this describes all the panels; they're just shown from different angles.) WOMAN: You know what I hate about these places? The darkness. PANEL 2: WOMAN: I mean, yeah, sure, we can bring in light, but there's always the darkness in the distance where the light doesn't reach. Oh, and then there's the smell. PANEL 3: WOMAN: These places always smell like they've been used by a whole den of animals as their personal privies. I guess maybe they have. And the dampness. I hate that too. PANEL 4: WOMAN: I mean, it soaks into everything. Your clothes, your hair—why do these places always seem to be so damp? And the air tastes funny, too. I hate that. PANEL 5: WOMAN: But I think what I really hate most is the silence... MAN: Well, we certainly don't have to worry about that with you around, do we?

If I recall correctly—which as it was more than twenty years ago it's entirely possible I don't—the version of Adobe Illustrator I used when I first made this strip didn't export transparency properly, so to get the (almost unnoticeable) transparency effect in the torch, I had to export the image as layers to Photoshop and export it from there.

Okay, I'm having trouble getting PHP to work on my local computer to get the site's coding done, although I could swear I've had it working before. Anyway, right now the pages are just hard-coded html, but getting the PHP code working to automate the pages will be one of my top priorities for today.
