Soup the Comic Strip by Alun Clewe
Comic strip for September 25 2023.
PANEL ONE: Erlak's champion rides Nezhoni across a grassland. NEZHONI: So where're we going, anyway, bub? PANEL TWO: Close on the champion. CHAMPION: Well, after we deliver the Amulet of Ygraine to the Earl and collect our payment, I heard about a kidnapped princess in Reeland, with a great reward offered for her rescue. It'll take us a few weeks to get there, and rescuing the princess won't be easy, but with any luck the reward will be worth it. PANEL THREE: Close on Nezhoni. NEZHONI: If we had any luck, you wouldn't be champion to a pathetic god of soup, and I wouldn't be carrying you around on my back. PANEL FOUR: The champion stares down at Nezhoni, eyes wide. PANEL FIVE: The champion looks forward again. CHAMPION (thinking): I really can't think of a response to that.

And here we have another new nation named. Reeland. I seem to have dropped a lot of place names early in the strip, and I... think I kind of stopped doing that later. Or maybe I didn't and I just don't remember. I guess I'll see as we continue with the old strips (I haven't reread all of them yet.)

I've always liked mapping out imaginary worlds and places; I have many maps of different worlds I created as a child. Despite that, I somewhat uncharacteristically never actually mapped out the named locations in Soup—and maybe I should have? I don't know where Reeland is relative to Taena, or what shape the (presumable) continent of Garcan is. Hm. Maybe at some point I should do that.

I did, however, map out the general shape of the world, and the outline of the continents (though I don't think I decided on which one Garcan is). But it's in kind of an odd place. Specifically, there's a map of the world on the seat of the bench that Erlak and Nizini are usually seen sitting on. I don't know that you can ever make out the map in a strip, though, because, well, I think pretty much every time that bench is seen Erlak and Nizini are sitting on it.

I don't know why the horizon is so low in the last two panels. Well, yes I do know. It's because I can't draw.
