Soup the Comic Strip by Alun Clewe
Comic strip for October 7 2023.
PANEL ONE: Snormar faces Erlak's champion, his bow raised. SNORMAR: Hear this, servant of my patron's enemy: We shall meet back in the forest for our battle in three days! PANEL TWO: Slightly closer view CHAMPION: Um, well, look, actually, we were just on our way to rescue a kidnapped princess, and that may take a while, so... SNORMAR: Three weeks, then! But we shall have our battle, regardless! PANEL THREE: Close on Erlak's champion CHAMPION: Fine! You know what? Fine! I want to end this! Three weeks it is! PANEL FOUR: Close on Snormar SNORMAR: So be it! We shall face each other then! PANEL FIVE: Snormar watches as the champion rides by. PANEL SIX: Erlak's champion rides off on Nezhoni the giant rat. NEZHONI: You're going to be as far as possible from that forest in three weeks' time, ain'cha? CHAMPION: I'm definitely considering it.

It's 24-Hour Comics Day! And while this may be a bad idea, I decided I wanted to participate in person this year badly enough to get a plane ticket to Albuquerque, which is where the nearest location is that's hosting the event. So at the time this strip went up, I was... not in Albuquerque yet, because the event doesn't officially start until noon, and my plane doesn't leave until 7:45. But for the latter half of the day I'll be doing 24-Hour Comics Day, anyway. Of course, I'm writing this commentary in advance, so at the time I'm posting this I don't know what the comic will be about yet. In fact, at the time this strip went up I still didn't know what my 24-hour comic will be about. The idea is that there's no preplanning and that everything is done within the 24 hours, including the conceptualizing and writing, and I like to do it by the book.

When I finish the 24-hour comic, it's going to be up on my 24-hour comic site, d24comic.com, which at the time of this writing is still very stark and ugly and in desperate need of an overhaul. It won't be up right away, of course, because I can't scan it in and upload it until I get home on Monday morning, and even then I may not do it immediately. But it'll be up by... probably late Tuesday at the latest. Though at least on Monday I'll be able to tell what it was about.
