Soup the Comic Strip by Alun Clewe
Comic strip for October 5 2023.
Snormar faces Erlak's champion, holding a bow with an arrow nocked and ready to release. SNORMAR: Hold! I am Snormar, champion of Thrumger the storm god. I challenge thee to single combat, and know thou that if thou refuseth I shall strike thee down where I stand with my bow ere thou canst escape me again! PANEL TWO: Angle on the champion. CHAMPION: Er... can't we talk this over? SNORMAR: Nay! My god hath commanded me to combat thee, and I must obey his command! PANEL THREE: Back to the side view of Snormar and the champion. CHAMPION: Do you do _everything_ your god tells you to do? SNORMAR: Of course! I serve Thrumger, great god of tempests. His word is law to me as it is to the storms. And what of thee? Thou dost not follow every command of thine own patron? PANEL FOUR: Snormar lowers his bow. CHAMPION: Well, I serve Erlak, god of soup... SNORMAR: Oh, yes... there is that.

During the initial run of this strip, a friend mentioned that his favorite character was the dwarf. This confused me, because there are no dwarves in the comic. I eventually figured out he was referring to Snormar.

To be fair, in this strip and the next, Snormar does appear kind of short. He's not supposed to be; he's supposed to be at least as tall as the champion. I think the reason he looks shorter here is because I was thinking the fact the champion was mounted would put him on a higher level... but he's mounted on a short-legged giant rat; I'm not sure his head should actually be any higher than when he's standing—if anything, I'm not sure it shouldn't maybe be slightly lower. Anyway, just to make it clear, Snormar isn't meant to be a dwarf; he's just a bearded, axe-wielding human. It's just that I'm apparently not great at drawing characters with the right relative proportions. Or at drawing in general.
