Soup the Comic Strip by Alun Clewe
Comic strip for December 1 2023.
PANEL ONE: Erlak continues speaking with Tagaidin. TAGAIDIN: You know, many gods think in this day and age the gods have been everywhere. They think there's nowhere left to explore. ERLAK: But they're wrong, right? PANEL TWO: Close on Tagaidin TAGAIDIN: Absolutely! There are far regions beyond inaccessible wastes... nameless caverns deep under the ground... strange places not wholly on this plane... PANEL THREE: Extreme close-up on Tagaidin's eyes. TAGAIDIN: There's plenty left to explore, plenty left to discover. There are things long forgotten, things never known, things beyond understanding or comprehension. I've found plenty of strange and wonderful things in my own explorations. PANEL FOUR: Behind Tagaidin's back, Erlak starts to walk away. TAGAIDIN: Why, there are things that can cause dire harm to the very gods themselves! ERLAK: There are, huh? Um... I didn't know that...

So in light of what I said in the commentary a few strips ago about not having previously used Illustrator's color palettes, today I started taking measures to do just that, sampling the colors and creating palettes for some of the major characters. And I realized I haven't been entirely consistent about the champion's color scheme. Well, his belt in particular, which started out as black and then at some point I started making it the same color as his shorts. And then at some later point it went back to black again. I guess it's not absurd to imagine he has more than one belt, but I'm pretty sure the change wasn't intentional, and given that his costume otherwise doesn't change (well, except for his getting a new sword after he left his old one in DeVallon's body), it doesn't look intentional, either. Anyway, I guess I'm sticking with the black from here on out.

Honestly, I'm not actually sure Adobe Illustrator is really a program ideally suited to draw comics anyway. But I guess since that's what I've been using so far, I may as well keep using it.
